How to Install Your Cut-Out Windshield Banner

  • Inspect your decal before installation. If your decal arrives damaged, defective, or with any issues, please contact us before attempting installation. Please include photos of the decal and packaging so we can assist you.
  • Do not install a damaged decal. Once a decal has been installed or installation has been attempted, we may be unable to determine whether damage occurred during shipping or application.
  • We are not responsible for damage caused by improper installation. This includes wrinkles, creases, bubbles, tearing, incorrect positioning, stretching, or other damage that occurs during application.
  • Install in temperatures of at least 10°C (50°F). Applying vinyl in colder temperatures can prevent the adhesive from bonding properly and may cause lifting or installation difficulties.
  • Make sure the windshield is completely clean and dry. Dirt, wax, grease, ceramic coatings, or other residues can interfere with adhesion.
  • Take your time and measure before applying. Once the vinyl makes contact with the glass, repositioning may be difficult.
  • For best results, we recommend installing your windshield banner indoors or in a sheltered area, away from wind, rain, direct sunlight, and extreme temperatures.

Before You Start

For best results, install your banner in a clean, dry, dust-free area and avoid installing on extremely hot or cold glass.

You’ll need:

  • Masking or painter’s tape

  • A squeegee or application card

  • Glass cleaner or isopropyl alcohol

  • Microfibre cloth

  • Measuring tape

1. Clean the Windshield

Thoroughly clean the outside of your windshield where the banner will be installed. Remove all dirt, wax, grease and residue.

Finish by wiping the area with isopropyl alcohol and allow the glass to dry completely before installation.

2. Position Your Banner

Without removing the backing paper, position the entire banner on the windshield.

Measure from both sides of the windshield to make sure the design is centred and level.

Once you're happy with the placement, use pieces of masking tape to temporarily hold the banner in position.

3. Create Your Hinge

Place a long strip of masking or painter’s tape vertically through the centre of the banner, attaching it securely to both the banner and windshield.

This creates a hinge and prevents the banner from shifting while you install each half.

4. Apply the First Half

Fold one side of the banner back toward the centre hinge.

Carefully peel the backing paper away from the vinyl and transfer tape until you reach the centre hinge.

Cut away the exposed backing paper.

Do not allow the exposed adhesive to touch the windshield yet.

Starting at the centre, slowly lower the banner onto the windshield while firmly squeegeeing outward toward the edge.

Work gradually and use overlapping strokes to help prevent bubbles and wrinkles.

5. Apply the Second Half

Remove the centre hinge tape.

Fold the uninstalled side back and carefully peel away the remaining backing paper.

Starting from the already-installed centre section, slowly squeegee the vinyl outward toward the opposite edge.

Take your time—do not lay the entire banner onto the glass at once.

6. Remove the Transfer Tape

Firmly squeegee over the entire design once more.

Slowly peel the transfer tape back on itself at a sharp angle, keeping it close to the windshield rather than pulling it straight outward.

If any part of the vinyl begins lifting with the transfer tape, stop, lay the tape back down and firmly squeegee that area again before continuing.

7. Finish the Installation

Once the transfer tape has been removed, firmly press down all edges and detailed areas of the design.

If your banner extends beyond the edges of the windshield, carefully trim the excess vinyl using an appropriate trimming tool.

Allow the vinyl adhesive time to fully bond before washing the vehicle.

Important: Take your time during installation. Once the adhesive side of the vinyl makes contact with the glass, repositioning may be difficult. Always double-check your measurements and placement before beginning.
